Clair and Tiffany Urness wander the boulevards and cobblestones of Paris in search of culture and enlightenment but settle for the simple pleasures of hanging out in cafes and bookstores, taking bus rides to nowhere in particular, and watching the colorful spectacle of the daily pedestrian parade.

Clair and Tiffany's 2016 Adventures - #4 Dolomite Mountains, Italy
After three weeks in the UK, we flew to Bergamo, Italy, toured the old town, and spent a night there in an Airbnb apartment. Our apartment owner helped us find train schedules online and we left the next morning for a week in the Dolomite Mountains. In the valley of Val Gardena there are three main towns, Orteisi, Santa Cristina, and Selva. This is a big ski resort area and becomes a paradise for walkers, hikers and bikers in summer. Our condo was in Santa Cristina, and had fine views of mountains and the village. Easy to get around by frequent, comfortable buses with the weekly pass we bought from one of the tourist offices.

Clair and Tiffany's 2016 Adventures - #3 Isle of Wight and Wales
When originally planning our June travels, I had asked brother Clay what he was interested in, and he reminded me he likes islands, trains and snorkeling. My previous blog was about our meeting up, with son Lyes, in Scotland, and touring the Isle of Skye; then later, after some London sightseeing and Lyes' return to Sacramento, we spent several days on the Isle of Wight, south of Southampton. We covered "trains" by going up to Wales and taking a ride on the Blaenau Ffestiniog Railway. Sorry, no snorkling.

Clair and Tiffany's 2016 Adventures - #2 Scotland and the Isle of Skye
Clair and I did a lot traveling throughout the month of June. We started off in Manchester, then London where we were joined by son Lyes and did some sightseeing. Brother Clay flew in from Seattle and met us in Edinburgh for a 3 day small group minivan tour to the Isle of Skye.
Here is a little scenic slide show with music, no narrative, where we cross Scotland, tour around the Isle of Skye, and return to Edinburgh. Click below. It will look even better if you are able to open to Full Screen. You can pause anytime, but otherwise it will roll through.
