Clair and Tiffany's 2011 Adventures - #6

The weather has been unusually mild, often overcast, and sometimes downright cool. This is fine with us, despite being caught offguard several times by sudden downpours, because temperatures have been ideal for summer festivals, picnics, concerts, dancing, and hikes and taking visitors around. Ideal also for sunsets, moonrises and rainbows. Click here.

Clair and Tiffany's 2011 Adventures - #5 Lake Geneva and Annecy

We know that beach areas are absolutely jam-packed with vacationing Europeans during July and especially August.  So we head to the mountains. Click here.

Clair and Tiffany's 2011 Adventures - #5

The proper thing to do in Paris in July or August is to leave town. We got on the Internet and searched around for somewhere to go to for about six days. Our criteria: near water and beautiful scenery, interesting things to see and do without needing a car, not too popular and crowded, not more than about 3 hours by train or bus. We ended up at two wonderful destinations in the French Alps: Evian-les-Bains and Annecy. Click here for the story.

Clair and Tiffany's 2011 Adventures - #4 June

The occasional torrential Parisian downpour usually tapers off to a drizzle within 7-8 minutes, then the drizzle can last several days.  Click here.

Clair and Tiffany's 2011 Adventures - #4

Every now and again we look at all the filled-in spaces of our weekly calendar, and we ask ask ourselves: are we overdoing it? Can't we discipline ourselves to take fewer walks along rivers, cut back on visits to art galleries and bookstores, go to fewer movies, spend less time trying to learn tango, French, Spanish and piano? I just don't know if we have the willpower.

Clair and Tiffany's 2011 Adventures - #3

In mid-May, our first-ever timeshare exchange came to pass, and it was a fine success all around. We traded a Lake Tahoe week for a week on the island of Mallorca, in a town that we had never heard of, Porto Alcudia. Click here for our report and photos.

Clair and Tiffany's 2011 Adventures - #2

This was an April for the record books: dry and sunny. We made the most of it, taking every opportunity to sit at outdoor cafes, go on hikes, admire the views from high places, and stay out late on mild evenings.

Clair and Tiffany's 2011 Adventures - #1

Snapshots of our past five months in Sacramento, which, mercifully, we do not intend to post here, would show cheerful get-togethers with family, reconnections with UU friends, incredible dinners with our gourmet group, ballroom dancing, tango lessons, a side trip to Mesa, and a long list of dreary home improvements and repairs. A final scramble to get the house ready for vacation rental guests, and then April arrives, we pack, we fly, and we're once again in Paris! Click here to see highlights of our first week back in Paris.

Clair and Tiffany's 2011 Adventures - #1

These past five months have gone by quickly. Back home in Sacramento, we got to see our families again, connected with UU friends, did some dancing, took tango lessons, had our monthly dinners with our gourmet group, visited Reg and Roselynn in Mesa, Kevin in Phoenix, and managed to get through a daunting list of home improvement projects and repairs.

Now Spring is here, and hello, we're once again in Paris. Click here
